Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson, Adam Goldberg, Kathryn Hahn
If we were to make a list of the best rom-coms of the 21st century, I would place this title among the ‘required material’.
This is an inevitable title in its genre, among the best in the last 20 or so years, and certainly in the TOP 20 on my list! A true example of how entertaining a romantic comedy can be when a quality script is entrusted to top actors.
McConaughey doesn’t have many films in this genre, which doesn’t mean that he won’t play such a (let’s call it) more ‘casual’ role in a genius way 💪🏻. On the other hand, K.Hudson (although I don’t rank her among my favorite actresses of her generation) is not far behind him, this is her most memorable role for me personally.
She had the task of playing a role in a role, and portraying the character of an overly demanding, (at times) schizophrenic girl that no man would tolerate. It’s really funny and entertaining, and her ‘careless’ behavior is superbly acted.
But considering that ‘our’ man was not just anybody, he had to endure all that ‘oppression’ in parallel with her for the sake of personal interest. I quote: “she drives him crazy” to the extent that he split her personality into “good” and “evil” Andy 🙂 .
What is it actually about? Namely, Andy (in order to get her colleague out of trouble) volunteers to write an article for a well-known women’s magazine (as the title tells us) ‘How to get rid of a guy in 10 days’. So, to ‘catch’ and unhook a guy in (only) 10 days.
On the other hand, Ben is an advertising manager who is desperate to advertise a prestigious client. In order to get the job, and prove to the boss that he is the right person for the task, he accepts the challenge to find a girl and make her fall in love with him in (just) 10 days.
‘In love and war, is everything allowed?’😉 That was the question at the first meeting of our protagonists, and since the answer was positive, the rest of the film we will see really impossible situations in a relationship that one side tries to end, while the other (literally) trying to endure 😉.
