Imogen Poots, Owen Wilson, Kathryn Kahn, Jennifer Aniston
Why (as well as a large number of movie buffs) do I avoid the titles available to us on television channels? The answer is logical (and I believe familiar)…
If we go through 30 most popular channels, we’ll mostly come across reruns (I mean around 10 well known movies, which only rotate between channels during the week – I believe you know what I’m talking about), a bunch of advertisements while watching, and at worst a terrible selection of titles.
It can happen (rarely, but still possible), to find an interesting/unusual title.
I’d single out this movie as such. Because of the very fact that we have an average comedy/drama in front of us, I’m not going to praise it too much, I’m just going to repeat : interesting.
I won’t even mention the plot, because in the last 15 minutes we’re going to get the most fun moments, so we shouldn’t scrape it off, but watch it till the end.
Enough fun moments, one of the rare cases where O.Wilson was cool to me and melted down with the role. The script, which brought nothing revolutionary, is supplemented by great acting and unexpected plot twists… That, in my opinion, would be the main values for a positive judgement.
This time I’d focus more on the cast; actors who are known mostly to us as minor roles, and who because of the more recognized names we have seen them with in many titles, do not come to the fore.
I wouldn’t have called them bad or insignificant, because without that category of actors, half of those movies wouldn’t have been made.
This fact will be best understood in such movies, where they have a little more minutes, are not in the shadow of A+++ names, and therefore their contribution (talent) becames obvious.
From this cast, I would like to single out the lovely I.Poots who has been present on stage since 2004. Distinct British accent, looking little bit like K.Knightley, though (personally) considerably more likeable, and who has over 30 more or less famous films so far.
But I would never have paid special attention to her if I hadn’t come across two of her films in a row. Without looking back on the quality and production of them, I can only praise her performance.
