Channing Thatum, Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, Mat Bomer, Adam Rodriguez
I will say : like & dislike 😏. It was little bit funny and unrealistic to watch women getting so crazy about half-naked handsome men, whose naked butts make them so insane.
But it’s probably like that for real, we’ll trust Channing… Because as a younger he really did that job, so according to that experience he decided to make a movie …and finance it from his own budget, together with the director S.Soderbergh, with whom he has already cooperated earlier.
Genre is primarily drama, with quite funny and witty musical (dance) elements, and that makes the final score better. Because poorly acted dialogues were simply boring and uncovincing.
The fictional story follows a group of male strippers, who are doing it as an extra job. But if we were expecting dancing and entertainment for most of the time, that’s not the case. The idea was obviously for a deeper story to be the foundation, which in my opinion could have (and should have) been more interesting.
There was potential for sure, but realization of it didn’t work out for me. I expected more in terms of acting and complexity of characters; the polishing of that original idea was somehow left out.
In first sequel team was led by McConaughey, who picked up six awards for best supporting actor. But the story is pretty static and monotonous, in center of which is a young stripper eager for fame who accidentally got position in team, and who will indirectly be the reason for separation.
Channing’s (better to say Mike’s) unexpected departure from the team will end the adventures of ‘King’s of Tampa’ in this chapter.
Conclusion : several scenes really are above the average, but in general film deserves a mediocre score, which audience gave to it. A little bit of attractive ‘hot’ dancing, a little bit of humour; without great expectations, faults will fall into the second plan.
