Sci-fi rich in popular names, but it’s not Marvel or DC? It’s possible, why not. This is one of those movies I like to repeat periodically.
Woven with the well-known battle of good vs. evil, Robert Rodriguez (suported by J.Cameron) brings us an improved version of the 1993 Japanese animated film.
About the movie? Very interesting story and top-notch action are located in the future, in the city of Iron City, where cyborgs make up the majority of population.
That’s where the interesting side of the film comes in, that human detail and the factor as dr. Ido, who treats (actually fixes) all those cyborgs, ‘wounded’ in the popular competition – ‘Motorball’.
Looking for spare parts for his ‘practice’, at the junkyard he finds an interesting remedy of a young female cyborg, mostly her remains… He carries it with him, and he’s installing her body which was originaly built for his late daughter.
Alita doesn’t remember anything at first, and dr. Ido practically accepts her as a family member. As the days go on, it turns out that the young ‘girl’ is a sophisticated weapon, the last of her kind. The action begins…
As much as someone didn’t like this kind of movie, or the story in theory sounded childlike, in practice it was really done on an enviable level. It must be acknowledged for the visual effects and serious casting members.
